Frequently Asked Questions
Cost, preparation, regrowth and what the work leaves behind. Start with the questions that matter to your property.
Getting Started
Who will I be working with?
Jamie, the owner, handles your estimate. Texas Guardian Land Services is veteran-owned and owner-operated.
How do I ask for a free estimate?
Tell us your name, how to reach you, your city or town and what you want to do with the land. The estimate starts with a conversation about the property.
Cost
How much does forestry mulching cost?
Brush density, work area, terrain, access, the finish you choose and ground conditions all affect cost. The free estimate gives you the number for the work described.
Why does the price depend on the property?
Density, terrain and access vary. Two areas of the same size can need different work. Compare the boundaries and finish in each written scope, not just the final number.
What payment do you accept?
Cash, check, credit card and QuickBooks.
Process & Preparation
What should I do before you come out?
Confirm access, mark boundaries and what stays, and point out buried lines, water lines, wells, old wire, rocks and soft ground. Secure pets and livestock and keep people out of the work area while the machine runs.
Can you work when the ground is wet?
Wet or soft ground can rut under equipment. Ground conditions can move the start date, and access needs to be considered before work begins.
What should the written estimate describe?
The work area, access, the growth you pointed out should stay, the service selected and the finish you chose should be clear. Ask about anything that does not match your picture of the work.
Is It Right for My Land?
What happens to the brush?
Forestry mulching grinds brush and small trees where they stand and leaves mulch on the ground. Debris consolidation gathers scattered woody material into organized piles that stay on the property.
Will my mature trees stay?
You point out what should stay, and the estimate describes it. Mark the retained trees and discuss the space around them during planning.
Do you clear brush for a future homesite?
Yes, clearing brush can open the area so you can see and use the land. The estimate describes the clearing boundaries and the finish you chose.
Forestry mulching or bulldozing?
The right approach depends on what you want left on the property. Mulching reduces woody growth in place and leaves mulch. Compare roots, surface disturbance and the handling of woody material before choosing an approach.
Can you open just a path instead of the whole property?
Yes. Access Path Creation and Trail Creation can focus on selected routes. Describe the destination and how you plan to use the path.
Brush, Regrowth & Dry Seasons
Will the brush grow back?
Some brush, including mesquite, can resprout after the growth above ground is cut. Clearing changes what is there now; plan for observation and upkeep as the property changes.
Does clearing remove wildfire risk?
No. Perimeter clearing reduces brush fuel along the areas cleared. Your local fire department is the right source for wildfire-preparedness guidance.
What happens to the mulch over time?
Mulch settles with weather and traffic. Its depth and distribution affect the surface you see and walk on. Discuss heavy pockets of material during the review.
